How It All Began...
Oroboros Watches was founded by two childhood friends with a passion for Egyptian culture, fashion, and timepieces. With a shared love for all things stylish and a commitment to social responsibility, they set out to create a watch company that reflected their values and interests.
Inspired by the ancient symbol of the ouroboros, a serpent eating its own tail, our brand represents the idea of continuity, timelessness, and the never-ending cycle of life. Each of our watches is designed to embody the spirit of the places forgotten in luxury, with intricate details and a timeless aesthetic that speaks to our heritage and cultural pride.
Our Approach
We spent almost two years learning the industry, designing, and prototyping extensively to make sure that we put our best foot forward when we introduced ourselves to the world. Many times, we had to start from scratch, focusing again on our core principles of putting purpose and precision behind each element of our design and & construction. Eventually, we built a global team of industry leading suppliers and released our Cairo model in August 2020, as a tribute to the city both of our families are from. Each of our watches is meant to share a story of pride, honoring the people and places that made our world today possible.

Behind Our Name
Centuries ago, the image of a serpent consuming its tail first appeared in Ancient Egypt. Other civilizations adapted the symbol including the ancient Greeks, who called it the “οὐροβόρος”, or “ouroboros” meaning "tail-eating,”. The symbol was ascribed various meanings throughout time including the beginning & end, destruction & creation, and the process of life & death. But most importantly, the ouroboros symbolized an eternal unity in all things and that opposites are not in conflict. We chose Oroboros as our name, and designed our logo to merge luxury watchmaking with a symbol of our Egyptian roots & time over all. Within our logo, we hid 7 symbols of our most important asset; time.

As Egyptian-Americans we experience duality constantly, bridging our roots in one of the world’s first civilizations with a culture of modernization and action in the world we see daily. We founded Oroboros for those who believe in the beauty of contrast, the strength of their history, and the potential of their future.
